Smoky Rhubarb BBQ Sauce

Local rhubarb season has arrived & this sweet & tangy recipe is the best way to celebrate!

Ingredients You'll Need

  • 5 rhubarb stalks, washed & cut into 1" pieces
  • 4 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. dijon mustard
  • 2 chipotle chilies in adobo sauce, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh ginger, minced

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan and stir to combine
  2. Place saucepan on medium heat and heat until bubbing
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer until rhubarb is softened, about 10-20 minutes
  4. Puree sauce in a blender and season with salt and pepper to your liking
  5. Allow sauce to completely cool
  6. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 month
